2010 Run What Cha Brung

For 25 years, the annual “Run What Cha Brung” car event has brought – or brung, rather – car enthusiasts to Nevada’s capital. This year’s event, which is organized by Karson Kruzers, was held from June 25th through June 27th, at Fuji Park.

More than just a warm-up for Reno’s Hot August Nights – which has less seniority than the Carson City car show -  Run What Cha Brung is a cheerfully relaxed fun event for the whole family. The intimate setting in Fuji Park encourages visitors not only to admire the vehicles on display, but also take the time to chat with the proud owners and photograph the rare and unique cars.

But this event is not just show and tell; various activities have become traditions over the years. Such as the car parade down Carson Street on Saturday evening, which is followed by street dancing in the downtown area. Or the poker run on Sunday Morning. And nobody wants to miss the awards, which are given to the winners in their respective category.

This year, a total of 204 vehicles competed for honors in 57 classes that cover stock, modified and custom variations of vehicles from as young as 1980s models to as old as pre-1931 models. Categories also included trucks, sports cars, muscle cars, foreign cars, lowriders, retro cars and motorcycles, as well as specific makes and models such as Chevrolets or Mustangs.

While most exhibits were shining, sparkling masterpieces in showroom condition, some WIPs (works in progress) were also on hand, hoping for an award in  one of the two “Under Construction” classes.
