The 360 ​​Modena sports car was introduced by Ferrari in 1999 and gave its name to the car as the city in which the company founder was born.

With an introductory price of $ 140,000, the 360 ​​replaced by the successful 355 series, and consisted of the two-seater Modena Berlinetta coupe, the Spider convertible and the Challenge variant.

Unlike the 355 which was equipped with a steel frame, the 360 ​​featured a slightly larger new aluminum space frame, which benefited from the fact that it was up to 40% stronger, and yet was still around 100 kg, or 25%, lighter.

Optional extras included carbon fiber seats and a racing exhaust system.

In terms of fuel consumption, it recorded 13 mpg in the city and 19 mph on the highway.

The body panels were made of aluminum and used 13-inch vacuum assisted disc brakes all around and connected to the ABS, as well as independent four-wheel suspension with coil spring.

The air from the front ducts flowed under the lower tray to the two rear diffusers, and this produced a descending force that gradually increased with the acceleration of the car. In this way, road holding has been radically improved.

Dry pump lubrication has been maintained, as has a five-bearing crankshaft, ASR traction control and a limited slip differential.

The shock absorbers had their own electronic control unit to manage vertical or horizontal movement in the car.

When production ended in 2005, a total of 8,800 Ferrari Modena sports car units had been built.


Each of the 360 ​​series sports cars shared the same larger 3.6-liter, DOHC, mid-engine, rear-wheel drive, V8 unit, with five valves per cylinder, such as the 355, using lightweight internal components such as titanium connecting rods.

It has been equipped with a flat crankshaft to avoid irregular shots and timing problems encountered when using a cross-plan unit.

It developed 395 hp at a 8500 rpm red line and 275 feet / pounds of torque at 4750 rpm, most of which was available around 3000 rpm.

The compression ratio remained at 11: 1, continued to use electronic fuel ignition and was equipped with the latest Bosch ME 7.3 engine management system.

Connected to a fully synchronized six-speed manual transmission, the manual transmission or the optional F1-style lever transmission, it produced a top speed of 189 mph and a 0-60 mph time of 4.2 seconds.

The optional system had two paddles behind the steering wheel so that the right blade changed gears, while a left blade changed one, and each gear change took only 150 milliseconds.

Without the clutch pedal, the electronic control unit in the gearbox managed the gear changes if combined with the engine speeds.
