Normal roads are not designed for smooth rubber due to rain, snow and other extreme weather conditions. Rather stick to normal low profiles with the required tread depth.

Rain tires have an arrow-shaped tread to keep water away. Dry Asphalt tires are perfect for hot seasons with their light tread as this can allow for the passage of a small amount of fresh air.
The tires are specially made for different forces and weather conditions and are designed to withstand particular conditions. Make sure you use the correct type for any driving circumstance, both for racing and for normal daily driving. Keep in mind that they need to be checked often every time you have completed a tense driving session like a race.
